My new leo is excreting some weird yellow liquid

I just bought a Male Leopard Gecko (he is full grown) from the local pet store here. He looks healthy however I noticed yesterday some really strange yellow liquid in his cage. It looks like pee but, I have never seen this with my other leo (4 years old). I thought the pee for these guys was the little white peice that comes with the poo. Anyways I saw this stain on his sand didn't think much of it then I came home after a concert and saw his first poo which looked fine and I saw the little white peice too but it was surrounded in yellow tinted sand. Is this normal is there something wrong with my leo? He hasen't came out of his little house at all since I got him except to go to the bathroom that one time and eat some crickets. BTW I use the same sand with my other leo and never saw any yellow tinting like this.

You may want to take a fresh poo sample to the vets to make sure he doesnt have parasites.....yellow doesnt sound right to me either...you may want to put him on paper towels until his poop situation is rectified.....

Will any vet take a look at his stool? I've never taken a reptile to the vets before. Also how much will it probably cost to have it tested? I just bought him on Sunday so I may go back to the pet store to see what the return policy is on these leopard gecko's. This really sucks I hope I didn't get a sick leo. Physcially he looks excellent.

You'll never know until you have it checked out.

The best way to handle this is to put him on paper towels and get a fresher sample and find a vet who will do a 'fecal float' test.

It ususally costs alot less if the vet looks at the poo and not the gecko, but you might want to get a health check one anyway.

Most petstore animals are full of parasites.

To find a vet try checking here: Herp Vet Connection or ARAV

Thanks Lacey I found a place from that link near my house I can take a sample in. So should I take out all the sand in his cage and just put paper towels down? What about his heating pad won't just having some paper towels there be to hot for him if he walks across it and takes a nap there? My other gecko likes to realax near the heating pad sometimes during the night.

BTW I am murtasma from flickr in case you didn't notice

I figured as much...and now that you admitted to the site that you have a flickr you are required to post pictures
I don't use sand with either of my geckos because I dont feel that exclusively using it is natural. I use slate and shelf liner with heat pads and everyone gets by fine.
The geckos heat receptors are on their undersides so generally they know to move if something is too hot.

Re: My new leo is excreting some weird yellow liqu

Well I feed him 7 crickets yesterday he ate them all with out issue. Still no new poo yet. Hopefully there will be some when I get home or later on today. If it's still yellow I'll remove the sand and put paper towels down.

I have a picture of him it's not very good he hasen't come outta his home much. I don't wanna bother him yet. But I have a few of my baby chameleon up on flickr as well.

Do you have both of your geckos in the same cage? They should be kept separate until enough time has passed, where you can say your new gecko is healthy, because if your new one has parasites, you are now going to have to treat both of them for parasites.

Nope they are in diffrent cages. I stuck them in one together but my female didn't care for him much and they got into a fight in the first 2 minutes so I took him out.

occasionally if the uric acid from some of my animals sits in the heat lamp (especially the UV) it turns yellowish white. Very occasionally though.
