Shoot!!!

Ten mintues ago I went to go weigh my leo and when I went to go put it in the cage it leaped out of my hands and looked like it landed on its back and went right back on its feet and I was wondering does that harm the leo to the point you should go and bring it to the vet? the fall was about 6 inches to the tank floor.

Re: Shoot!!!

Was it on hard surface or carpet? 6 inches isnt to bad, you might just want to keep and eye on it. Is it acting normal? Lose of balance?

Re: Shoot!!!

It is acting normal and it hit a log I have in the cage, and then just landed on his back on the ground, it is sand.

Re: Shoot!!!

I would keep an eye on him/her and watch it's behavior-make sure that it is moving around normally
Keep an eye as to if it is eating and check it's waste for any blood

This might be hard to do this on sand as their waste is quickly absorbed by the sand
You might want to move him/her on to paper towels for the time being

Is this a baby or an adult?

They are pretty resilient animals but you never know if it could have sustained an internal injury with a fall on it's back

You might want to call your herp vet and see what they say.....

Re: Shoot!!!

Keep an eye on it. If it stops eating or something like that take it to a vet.

Re: Shoot!!!

old thread, but on the same topic, you should see the flying leaps Isabel likes to make out of my hands. A good 3 foot flight from my hands to the floor and out a couple of feet too. Confuses the bejesus out of the cats.
