Moist hide- egg laying

Moist hide- egg laying

Do you have to have a moist hide for your gecko to lay an egg?

Yes, gravid females need an egg laying box, it should be filled with moist peat moss or perlite.

Not perlite. It can do stuff to their systems if engested or if some gets in durring the egg laying prosses. I use eco-earth.

I know lots of breeders that use and reccomend perlite, never heard any problems with it. I generally just use peat moss for egg boxes and perlite for incubating.

here's a how-to on making a moist hide. they don't have to be huge. hope that helps

When I first started with leopard geckos I thought the moist hides were a nusance but over time your relize ow important they are!
