We lost power

It got down to the 50's the first night. The gecko's did fine. Once the electricity came back on the heat was left on in the tanks for 2-3 hours past when my son ususally turns them off. My son saw one of them eating this afternoon. Makes me wonder if they ate the night before.

My thoughts exactly. Unless it is multiple heat sources for day and night temps.

72 for a leo isnt fine. Thats the cool side temp. They need a hot side temp of 84-90

Ron Trempers site.
Quote:
Keep the gecko cage off the floor and create a temperature of 82-88 F for the daytime.
This sites caresheet
Quote:
The ideal temperature range to house a leopard gecko at would be 85-95 degrees in the "basking spot". (That would be where the Under Tank Heater is located.)

The cooler end of the enclosure should not fall below 70 degrees but should also not exceed 77 degrees. There should be a hide spot located on this end of the enclosure as well.
Geckos ect site
Quote:
The warm side of the cage should be at 90° F. If you find the warm side of the cage is hotter than 90° (which is often the case with the Repti Therm U.T.H.) you can decrease the temperature by using a lamp dimmer
Golden gate gecko
Quote:
The ideal temperature for Leopard Geckos is around 90-92 degrees (surface level) on the warm side of their enclosure, and normal room temperature (around 72-76 degrees) on the cool side

I know this may sound like Im being an butt to you, but low temps for the geckos will cause their digestion to slow down. Meaning it will take longer for them to digest thier food. Wich in turn will cause problems.

Well you edited your post. So you made it look like I messed up.

I think it was just misunderstood that we were shutting the lights off at night. I just edited to make sure that was understood.

I turn off my lights at night and only turn on a night glo for a little extra heat my tanks could heat less then 60 if I didn't and I did take a digital reading and my hot side is about 90 dregrees during the day and my cool side even on a 10 gallon with a 75 watt bulb on one side is still 78 to 80.
