Introducing new juvenile gecko

I'm thinking about buying a juvenile leopard gecko to put in the same tank with an adult female leopard gecko. Is this a bad idea? My enclosure is 10 G. Thanks!

If you want to keep 2 together, you really need a 20 gl long. You also want to make sure they are the same size or else the larger will be dominant.

If they are the same size, they should be fine together.

I just bought my juvenile today at Petsmart and brought it home. The juvenile was shedding. When I put her in the tank with my adult, and came back about 15 minutes later, she had grabbed the poor juvenile and ripped off all off her shedding skin. Do you think that I should return the juvenile and get the blizzard gecko instead??

I think whichever one you decide to keep or get, that you quarantine it to make sure it does not have any illnesses and make your other one sick. When you do put them together, they need to be the same size. I wouldnt put the 2 in a 10gl.

You might also want to rearrange the decorations in the enclosure; this might help with dominance issues. By rearranging you are changing the make up and whose spot belong to whom.

2 females of the same size should be okay but before introducing any new animal, you need to quaritine it for atleast 60 days. After that you can introduce them if the new one is healthy, but keep a close eye on them and be prepared to seperate them. Never put more then one male per cage and make sure you have 2 females and not a pair unless you are trying to breed
