Medication
I started my medication on all my geckos Tuesday. I have noticed that with all he meds and fluids that they still have a runny stool. Now could this be caused my the meds flushing out their system. I know they are all on antibotics and an anti worming. There is a total of three meds they each get once a day. One is for 5 days then I have to give it to them again 4-21 threw 4-25. And then there is one I have to give for 7 days and the other for 14 day. What am I suppose to do. I have my gravid female going a few days so I can give her supper worms and dust them so I kno what she is eating. And then the other two got 12 crickets the other day and when cleaning the tanks today there is 3 to 4 in each tank still. They are eating and still active at night. But they still have my worried. Ducky and Petrie were my first geckos. And a part of me wants to give up on geckos if I lose them. They were my first. And now I feel that because I brought friends in the house its my fault they are sick. HELP!

O.K. I know how you feel! First things relax! It will be okay!
Continue the medication as the vet advised and just keep a close eye on them. As far as feling guilty, I can tell you it has happened to the best of us at some point in time! Take this as a learning experience and remember no matter how bad you want to save something if you cannot quarantine it from your healthy others, dont do it! So with all that said, dont beat yourself up, learn from it! Antibiotics can give them diarrhea, so you really need to watch for dehydration, keep in constant contact with your vet! I am sorry as far as the geckos I do not get too many in and when I do they are usually healthy so I really cannot give to much advice, but I know someone will chime in who keeps lots of them, if this was an iguana I could definately help you Good luck and just relax as I definately know these kinds of things can be tough, shoot I feel like a pharmacy here, LOL, |

It's normal for the stools to stay runny during the course of antibiotics...also the lack of appetite...hopefully after they are done with the meds you will see improvement at both ends
best wishes...

Hello,
What meds and doses did the vet prescribe to you? As with all medications, they take time to do their job. Do you have any nutribac? If not, you may want to consider grabbing some off of Welcome To ReptileUV - Mega-RayŽ UVB lamps for reptile lighting worldwide. Nutribac is a probiotic and will help replenish the gut flora. This is important after having run a cycle of meds on your reptile as it helps kick them back into gear faster. |

They are on Panacur, Baytril, and Metronidazole. Now if I try the Pedialyte do I have to force it too them too or can I put it in their water dish? I also since they lost their appetite keep a uvb light on them. I love ducky and petrie. In 10 days ducky has gained 4 grams, ali 3 and petrie none. Ducky weighs 45 grams, Ali 65 and little petrie at 35. Now because petrie has always been small and gained weight slow will it take her a while to put weight back on? Thank for all of your guys help. This site really can make you feel like there are people out there that actually care about these animals and their owners that go threw **** keeping them healthy!

You can try and leave some in their water dish, or you can use a syringe to drip it on there nose to lick off, this way you are sure they are drinking it.
