Gecko's Coloring

Yesterday my little gecko's coloring looked paler than usual. She seemed perfectly fine. She was active, ate several crickets, and pooped fine. But her coloring was definately paler than it was the day before.

This morning I just peeked in on her and she looks normal again.

What would cause this?

If she looked dull she was most likely in shed and shed overnight. You normally wont find they shed skin, they eat it

Mmmm, tasty and filled with calcium. Make sure there is more moisture in the cage when they shed.

Hello,

I too agree that she was in shed. When a leo sheds, theirentire skin will lift above the fresh skin that has grown below the skin preparing to shed.

When the old shed is ready to come off, they reach back and grab a section with their mouths and "pull" on it. As it comes off, most Leopard Geckos will eat it. Their are valuable nutrients in the old shed.

It is normally noticeable when they have shed as the day after their skin looks "perfect" and colorful.

It depends on how fast they are growing. A young rapidly growing lizard will shed more frequently than an older one.

I don't have a scale but she is definately fatter than when I got her. She loves to eat. I have had her a week today. They pet store only feeds their reptiles about 2x a week according to them. I have been feeding her every day and she has been eating about 4-5 crickets at each feeding. I have been putting two in and if she eats them right away. I start dropping one at a time in until she doesn't seem interested anymore.
