I LOVE my new gecko

OMG, I just love watching her! She is amazing!!! When we fed her last night she actually stalked the crickets. Before she pounced on them she put her tail up in the air and did this little wiggle thing It was almost catlike.

She is just fascinating to watch. I am so glad that my daughter talked me into getting a leo gecko!

Too funny that you said that! I was going to ask if Leo Geckos are solitary creatures or if they do better in pairs or groups? I already want another one!

Hello,

Females can be housed together pending the enclosure is large enough. Males will fight one another if housed together. male and female couples will result in stressed females and copulation.

If you have a large enclosure, and the own a female, you could purchase another female (of the same size. They can't/shouldn't be different sizes.). If the geckos aren't close in size, the larger gecko will dominate the smaller one stressing her out and depriving her of food and sometimes heat.

Yes geckos are very addictive. I wish I would have know about this site before I reached 7 geckos. I mean I have 6 leopard geckos and an african fat tailed gecko but I would like to have 9 in total. I am looking to having a 6 to 2 male breeding colony. They are cute. Everything they do is cute!

I guess what I am asking will she lead a happy life by herself? Or would she prefer the company of another female? If I get a second one should I do it now while they are young or can I introduce another female of the same size when she is older?

I have a lot to decide. I would have to move into a larger tank. I currently have a 10 gallon for my single gecko. If I got a second one I would need to get a 20 gallon tank?

Yes, she will lead a perfectly happy life by herself If you get one now, the 1st may not show any dominance of the tank. If you get one later, I would just change around the cage furniture, but you shouldnt have any problems. You will need a 20 gl for 2 Leopard Geckos and even if you keep one, you will eventually need a 20 gl leopard gecko.

I kno many may discourage it. But for the first like 3 or 4 months of my females life they were housed in a 10 gallon tank. Once both of them reached about 15 to 20 grams I moved them into a 20 gallon tank and they have been in that one until like 3 weeks ago when I went to a 30 gallon for 3 females. Yes she will live a happy life by herself. Mine were content and I could have only had one but I fell in love with them and every time I saw a new one with a different color I had to have it!
