We just figured out my son's is female. I got her to scoot into a Kritter Keeper then we peaked underneath. My son wanted a male because he read somewhere that they live longer. When he saw she was a she the first thing to slip out is "Now I can have another one" LOL I got a call from a reptile rescue that has more. Trouble is they are several hours away.
This one is not so tame but he is able to touch her a bit.

The only reason I would think males live longer is if the females are being breed. If they are a pet, the life span should be the same.. At least that is the story for bearded dragons, if they are breed to young or to much it shortens their life span.
