Some people need to Chill!!!!

Ok
Some people really annoy me. (nobody on this forum) I have been working with Leopard Geckos since I was 6. I have used particle substrates (including sand) since I was 10. You'd they would have died by now if sand was deadly. The main reason Leopard Geckos are such execellent beginner species is that they are so adaptable. That means that they can survive in a range of temps, (80-90 Degrees in the day and 70-80 at night) they can thrive on a variety of substrates and they do not require an at least a twenty gallon cage, (although this is highly recommend) I just want to ditch the debate on substrates and what not and move on to something else, something more interesting. Ok I finally got that out of me. What a relief.

ok....i have to disagree. Sand is not deadly but has the potential to be deadly... a gun is deadly but if you are shot does not mean you are dead(catch the idea)

we should provide the best possible environment for our herps...i feel sand just leaves room for possible impactation. It may not kill your herp...but it could. Why take the chance. Just my point of view

this is the reason why a leo would live longer in captivity than in the wild...better conditions(this does not apply to all species though)

haha and I don't mean to annoy you...and also why ditch the debate about substrates if people are misinformed...this is why we have forums...to educate people on proper herp care and different views

We have numerous threads on this topic already and there is no use beating a dead horse. I think that pretty much everyone has had their say on the use of particulates, if you don't believe me then PLEASE read the following threads:

http://www.herpcenter.com/11544-calcisand.html

http://www.herpcenter.com/11783-crac...ut_shells.html

http://www.herpcenter.com/10907-subs...ture_heat.html

Due to the high possibility of this thread getting out of hand we are going to lock it until further notice. Thanks for keeping it friendly so far guys, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and you handled it maturely. We just don't need another heated debate on the topic when we already have so many!
