Impaction
Is there anything you can do to help a leo with an impaction (at least that's what I think it is...it has a dark belly area)??
I adopted it from someone who did not know how to properly care for it.
Thanks for the help

Sometimes a warm bath can help....also massaging the belly gently towards the vent area will sometimes help...otherwise if no pooping happens, I would suggest a vet visit....If this baby is kept on sand, best to remove it immediately and replace with newspaper or paper towels....good luck and keep us posted...

I agree paper towels or newspaper. if your going for decorative then repticarpet is fine also, but my leo was impacted for about 2 weeks she refused to eat anything and then I put her in luke warm water for about 30 min and then pu her in her cage about 2 days later she was poopin fine again!! So good luck impaction can be touchy!

I already have it on paper towel...funny thing though is that it is eating normally and pooping normally too.
Is there anything else that a dark purple belly could mean?

Hello,
You are likely just seeing his/her organs. Its not uncommon. You should still keep the leo on the paper towels if you transferred him/her as a result of the suspected impaction. That leo should be quarantined for 30 days and kept in the most basic setup so you can watch everything and monitor its feeding habits, defecation, etc.
Once it appears the leo is all set, go nuts designing a sweet tank for him/her. (Just avoid the particulate substrates. lol)

I'm going to have to agree with rich! Keep on paper towels and watch her it def. could just be organs. mine are like that I def just looked. She's real fat but you can faintly see the blueish color!!

Yeah if shes pooping...she's not blocked so she's not impacted. But if it gets darker there could be problems. I think everyone posts this when they first get a leo lol I posted the same thing but you can really see the organs. If it's REALLY dark you might want to get it checked by a vet! And paper towels is a good choice but just to let you know I just switched to ceramic tiles and they're great they heat so much better then I thought they would and I'm glad to be rid of the reptile carpet

That's the strange part...I suspected it was an impaction because of the dark belly and her (or maybe his) tail is also reallt thin, and I know that it not a good sign (my other Leopard Geckos have VERY fat tails).
I don't think it is organs because it is REALLY dark... almost looks like internal bleeding (but she's had it for a few months now)
I don't know...I just want it to go away.

I myself would take the gecko to an experienced reptile vet.
