thanks Amy for the tip =) I will add that in the morning...I plan on getting a longer tank when I can find one... would some driftwood be ok to add also (if there is room) I have some my fiance found at the lake..I will bake if first after cleaning it of course =)
Oh and I am unclear on what this surface gauge is or looks like. I think maybe walmart sells some kind of inside outside guage that I could try and put on the surface, but I don't know....where could I get one?
Plus I have the herpative multivitamin and the calcium stuff (unsure of the name but I will get it tomorrow) for leopard geckos so I think I have that good...
I am sure I will have much more questions tomorrow, so talk to you then

Hey! my baby has a great appetite he/she ate 4 mealworms last night and before that two when I brought him home! I added another smaller hide, but he hasn't tried it yet. I think I might need a bigger Under Tank Heater. I have the small one and it only covers a small area>like just under the one small hide I added this morning...especially when I get a bigger place for him. I will get more pics maybe tomorrow, I just don't want to stress him out ~ps I am calling it a him for now because my luck is 75% for getting males and 25%for getting females as pets =) so chances are it is a boy LOL

Yay! Congrats on the baby I know you've been wanting one since I first got mine! Advice on a substrait slate tile with no sticky backing works wonderful or even rolls of non adhesive shelf liner (the non shiny stuff) But you can get really natural looking slate that works well...I have reptile carpet in mine and I've been meaning to change it because he doesn't seem to like it (if I put paper towel in his hide he'll get in it but if the carpet is the bottom he goes to his moist hide all the time)
P.S. I have a 2:1 ratio for boys...all my herps are male...training boys one species at a time.

Floral moss is intended for use in flower arrangements and has been chemically dyed. Since it was never intended for use in reptile enclosures the safety of the material or dye has not been tested. I wouldn't use it.
The digital indoor outdoor thermometers that WalMart sells are fine to use. You can put the remote probe anywhere you need to test the temps. They also have a minimum/maximum reading that lets you monitor what the temperatures have done over a period of time.

That is funny!
Where would I get slate? I think that would look good! Also it would probably keep the heat better...the paper towel is working good though...I may just stick with that...I like the carpet look but I don't wat it if they don't like it.
I added a smaller rock for my baby, but he is so tiny the hole is too big, so I am getting a tiny half log or something this weekend =) he seems to stay out in the open, though? he is soo funny>when he is sleepy and wants to watch me, he closes one eye and keeps the othe on me! it is cute =) I hope he turns out like your...active and friendly. so far so good =) he still needs to trust me, but I only had him of acouple days...so we are working on it...I haven't bothered him cause I didn't want to stress him out.

Just as another option for substrate, I use stick-on linoleum tile. I trim it to size with a razor knife and stick it on both the floor and back of the cage. Actually all of my enclosures are like that. It is so simple to clean, crickets can not get under the tile and it never needs to be replaced. I use the vaccuum hose to clean their tanks and a wet paper towel to clean any "messes" they may make.
Whatever you decide will be great I am sure, you have a very cute little one there! Congrats!!

I use stick on tiles with my skinks, it works well as long as you seal the edges to prevent junk getting into the cracks.

thanks for the suggestions..I find them very helpful..I have to look around I guess...Do you find that the tile hold the heat best? I have a Under Tank Heater (small but I am getting a bigger one) I really want to do the best, but the expenses are a problem...I am broke now! I don't get paid until friday and I put all this on my card...so hopefully I will get some good stuff...and then a bigger tank! My fiance will help me I am sure....He says I sould have gotten more! I want to find out the sex first and of course a bigger tank =) I am so happy I got this little baby!
