Leo Ill or Unhealthy
I work at a pet store and had someone bring in a adult female leo and give it to me yesterday. She is fairly active but not very sociable, she's been eating but the thing that worrys me is she has alot of wrinkly excess skin that you can stretch out with bothering her and she has bubbles in her skin behind her legs. Another thing is that she isent under weight, she has a regenrated tail and its really fat. I need some hep or suggestions.
Thank You,
T. Patterson

Well, I can;t help you. I would think the wrinkled skin would be from under weight. Sorry

I have read that Leopard Geckos can form fatty deposits behind their legs. This isn't thought to be unhealthy or a sign of disease, I don't think. I don't know about the excess skin...

Hello,
The Leo sounds like it is preparing to shed. The loose skin and the bubbles could be the old skin prior to it being eaten.
Regenerated tails should be fat. It is holding the excess calcium and nutrients the leo will use if it needs it.
If the leo is underweight, but is eating, trying feeding some waxworms as part of her diet. That will help her gain weight. If you see her eating, perhaps you also need to increase the frequency of the feedings.
If the leo continues to eat but doesn't gain weight, you should have a fecal done to make sure it doesn't have any parasites.

Grab a picture of her from the side and the top, that'll be the most effective way of deciding if the lumps behind her back legs are excess fat or what not. Also the best way to tell if the bubbles are shed or somthing else.
Regards,
Paul

She looks like a fat happy healthy leo. the "bubbles" are probably just fat deposits and the wrinkles might be from dehydration.
