Not pooping
Hey guys!
Lately it has been difficult to spend some time here... almost no free time at all with so much work.
I have a new baby leo but all in good time, for now there's another issue that's been bugging me.
Last saturday I moved my 1 year old female leo to a slightly smaller enclosure. I moved the entire "furniture" and placed it in almost the same locations. So basically the same set in a smaller space.
Since then she has not pooped. She has been eating a little less than usual this week but she had a shed a couple of days before the move so I associated the lack of appetite with the move + shed.
She gained 10g in the last 2 weeks (its 73g now) and has no odd or funny symptoms, although 10g in 2 weeks is odd.
She keeps spending most of her sleep time in the humid hide and since the move she now spends the nights laying on the hot side (which is new, she use to stroll or stay in the humid hide but now night temps are a bit higher than before).
Temps are slightly higher and more constant than before because of the baby gecko. Now temps range between 87.8F (31C) most of the day to 84.2F (29C) most of the night.
Tonight I gave her a warm bath and after the "get me out of here" panic, she was trying to poop, unfortunately without success.
So, I don' know how long they can go without pooping but am I being paranoid? Is there anything I can do at this stage?
Thanks =)
Ricardo

Could she be impacted Ricardo? Have you changed her diet at all? How about a warm soak, did you try that yet?

Hi Marsha!
I gave her 2 warm baths already. She pushed but didn't pooped anything.
Her diet it's still the same since I got her: crickets and mealworms. I try to keep her diet on 75% or more crickets and the rest being mealworms because she is fat enough already =)
Impacted? I thought about that but her enclosure has nothing she could swallow. Only if she is blocked from mealworms...

That could be the case, which it sounds like if she hasnt pooped and discontinued eating. Might need a vet check up unless others have more ideas to try.

No, she is still eating. This past week she has not eaten as much as before but she's still eating and hunting.
From thursday on I cut her off the mealworms and reduced the number of crickets I feed her. Don't want to aggravate even further her condition.
Did you ever had any leo that stayed one or two weeks without pooping?
A friend told me that he has given Laevolac to one of his Leopard Geckos. Before turning into medicine I would like to run out of more "natural" methods like warm baths and such.
Is there anything she might take that would kick start her bowels?

No, mine have never gone that long without going. No sure about what to give them to make them go, maybe others will have some info.

She finally pooped this morning. It's a huge and ugly poop, like an alien bicephalous clone of Elvis would look like =)
Thanks Marsha =)

Glad to hear she pooped! In case it happens again, I've heard that rubbing the stomach while they are in the warm bath can help sometimes too.
