Questions!!!

I just got done reading Rich's caresheet of the Leapord Gecko. NIcely done if I say so myself. Anyway I really don't understand how to make the moist hides. The hides for the hot and cool end can you just by logs or plastic caves. For the calcium dish do you just put calcium powder in it. What kind of powder. How many crix should I feed. Would 2 worms a week be okay. Does the gecko need any climbing sticks or plants SHould I put the calcium dish and the water dish like in the middle.

Thats it for now THanks for the help. Also for a substrate NO sand correct.
NIce caresheet Rich.

Ohkk...the calcium dish should be filled with calcium powder, not with D3 tho. TO make a moist hide all you need is a tupperware container with a hole cut in either the lid or the bottom and some misted moss in the bottom of it so it is moist. No need for things to climb on, you should feed him as many crix as he will eat..and what kind of "worms"

As for substrate, be use paper towels. I have tried reptile carpet but it didn't work out for me. I use a plastic caves etc for one of the hides and the other is the moist hide.

I have my Leopard Geckos on reptile carpet and, on the cool end, a tile on top of the carpet. More for looks than anything. As for climbing, they're more ground-dwelling critters. But one of our Leopard Geckos, Gigi, is a climber. She tried to climb the glass walls. I put in a small reptile hammock for her, and she really enjoys it (you can see her on it in the Herp Photos forum, entitled "Geckos Galore"). I had to put it down really low, though, because (a) she kinda falls or even dives off the edge and (b) if I put it any higher, she'll climb out (which she managed once -- luckily I was standing right by the cage). I now have a clip on the screen to keep it Gigi-proof.

Some people make really fancy "rock wall" backgrounds for their Leopard Geckos out of styrofoam and grout, or built out of real stone that's glued together. They tend to make these somewhat stepped, with steps to climb up and niches for the geckos to hide in/lie on. I think Gigi would love one of those, but it'll have to wait for sometime when I feel inspired to take on the work. And I'll have to be careful, or she'll be loose in the house (which is all tile flooring, so she'll feel right at home until the cat finds her).
