A snake that likes vegis!

I just read in a reptile magazine about a Lampropeltis getula californiae ,who is owned by a woman from Berlin,Germany, that this snake was eating the vegetables from a chinese take away!
The woman had her snake out for exercise, while she had the chinese food on the table. While she was not looking for a moment, the snake went to the food and picked out a piece of vegi.

It wasn't just accidently, because the woman said her snake 'stole' more than once the vegi from her take away!

Although the snake gets a live mouse on a regular basis, she seems to like cooked vegis!

I thought this an amazing and intresting story, and thought it might intrest you.

I've heard of some wild snakes that will eat garbage, but its mostly garbage in the form of tossed out meat of some kind. Never heard of a snake taking to veggies. So weird!

Can they even digest veggies properly? Seems like it might upset their digestion and cause diarrhea...or make a regurge more likely...

My husband asked,"Are there any vegetarian snake species? After all there are plenty of other reptiles who are vegetarian..."

I've never heard of any...has anyone?

There aren't any snake species that are herbivorous. I'm not sure what the snake thought these veggies were, but it won't be able to digest them. All snake species eat normally eat meat

Maybe whatever sauce the veggies were in was a meat-based sauce that smelled yummy
