If your snake tends to strike at you when you put your hand in to take her out, try this:
Take a small cotton handkerchief or a soft paper Kleenex and drop it lightly over her head... then reach in and touch her in the middle of her body and then slowly pick her up.
Snakes don't see very well and anything big coming at their face is scary; or if they sense the heat of your hand, they could mistake it for food and strike too. Either way, covering their head for a short while gives you time to let her know "it's just me!" and usually they'll be OK once you've picked them up.

I've had Talyn since last September and I still use the handkerchief trick sometimes!

If she tends to be irritable when she's out, try handling in the evening: night-active snakes are often less grumpy then. Also avoid bright lighting. My Rainbows get really irritable around florescents and other bright lights.
