Do I Feed Too Much?
I just read in another forum that a guy feeds his young Sinaloan milk 3 pinkies a week. Some answerd that 3 pinkies is far too much and it's called powerfeeding;the snake will grow faster, but it also shortens its life.Well, since I had my sinaloan I was feeding her 3 pinkies per week, but now I want to change her to fuzzies.
Now my questions: Did I do her any harm by feeding her 3 pinkies?(the petstore said 3 pinkies are fine, but they don't always have the best answers,do they!)-And from now on will one fuzzy per week be enough?
She is about 45cm(3 1/2") long.
Please help me with this, because I love my snake and want do everything right!! Thanks so much!!

general rule: 1 prey item per week, about 1- 1 1/2 the width of the snake. a small snake is better off with 1 fuzzie as opposed to 3 pinkies.

with 3 pinkies they are getting more calcium from the bones as opposed to protien, a larger prey item will balance out better. overfeeding will cause the snake to grow rapidly (they do not hunt in a captive environement) and it will shorten it's life span. You are much better off increasing the size of the prey, and always using f/t

i think if yur snake was eating 3 pinkies then it should be able to handle a fuzzy once a week.

Thanks so much guys.I'm so glad I found a reason to ask this question, otherwise I would have made it wrong all the way! That teaches me to never trust a petstore!!

Most petstores sole purpose is to make $$$. that's why you see cute little iguanas for $9.00 and baby burmese python's for $50.00. they sell em and tell the buyers a 20 gal tank is fine. Not realizing these wonderful animals will require room size enclosures in less than 2 yrs. it's a shame
