Pictures of Our New Baby!

He is a cali king and he hatched 6-17-08. His name is Oscar. He just had his 2nd meal after i took these. Like a champ too. we just love him so much! what would be a good substrate for him we got paper towels for now. let me know how his setup looks. Thanks.

For the first couple of months I keep new babies (and adults)on newspaper. Makes it easier to keep an eye out for any parasites as well as monitor their droppings. After that I use aspen,
I would add a second hide so that there is one on the warm end and one on the cool end so they can chose.
I would also up the size of the water bowl. You want something big enough for the snake to get in and soak if it choses.

ok. i will get a bigger water dish. Also that long thing on the right side is a hollow fake log. like an upside down U. Thats on the cool end and the paper towel is ok for now? or newspaper? thanks!

I agree. Aspen will be good later one. My king love burrowing in the aspen. Also loves to soak in his water dish. You got a pretty snake.
