Mantid Information Sites?

Im trying to find a good website with information on mantids I have found a few and just wanted to know if any members knew of some other good sites for any information on them.

Also I need a investigative project related to either herps or insects for my course and anyone throw some suggestions on something I can do?

Any links, information or advice is greatly appreciated

Thanks,

GJ

Welcome to HC, we have at least one member who keeps mantids and many that keep insects. What does your project have to be on? Lifecycle, diet requirements, breeding?

Anything really but it must have some form of statistics in it... i think lol. But what to do it on im not quite sure yet, i was fishing for some possible ideas really

Although im not starting the project yet, i'd rather be ahead than wait and then spend my time find the info when I have it already and I can carry on with other assignments .

It would take some very precise measuring equipment but maybe weight gain of mantis compared to weight of insects ingested?

Activity level and appetite by varying temperature or humidity factors.

What kind of sites did you need for mantids? Just care instructions? This place has a few basic caresheets. It doesn't go into much detail, but tells you all you need to know.

http://swiftinverts.com is a great site for ordering invertebrates online. They currently don't have any mantids though, due to some new USDA importation rules, it explains it in the mantid section of the site. They should have some again eventually though.

Okay, sorry if this post is dated
But I am in the process of writing up a few carehseets for my site...got a few done. I just feel that not enough information is given in a lot of caresheets...there is a LOT more to know in keeping mantids, than just the temperature and humidity, which is pretty much all a lot of sources state!
If you are still interested, you can check them out at www.mantis-inc.co.uk/care.htm

Cheers,
Ian
