    I could of sworn that when I was a kid in school they were called mantis...but then again since I was in school growing up a lot of things were called by different names, things have changed for example all of the dinosaurs genus names were different then what they are now lol
    Cant keep up haha
    Or we learn more all the time! Or I just have a horrible memory! lol
    Just because you have an animal that isnt dead doesnt mean you know how to take care of it

    Actually most places still refer to the green ones as a praying mantis.
    And in my area another common names for them is "devil's horse".

    I'm really interested in an Orchid Mantis, but not sure if I'll ever get one.
    Are they hard to keep?

    That is pretty cool. i had what i always reffered to as a Praying mantis as a kid, i kept him a month then released him (or her?) It was cool while i had him.

    I love the orchid mantids too. I haven't had any luck finding too many right now, but their not hard to keep. They need about the same temps as most mantids, flying food, and a high humidity while young (75-90%).
