I just bought a gecko on friday so I'll give you the advice that people have given me. Digital thermometers are the best...and you NEED a thermometer but the one I have (the ones that stick on the back of the tank) apparently can be really off (by 20 degrees?). And I think it's usually never above 90? is that right?
The well water seems fine...if you can drink it and the fish can live in it there shouldn't be any problems so I wouldn't bother with the spring water (that and people tell me that bottled water doesn't contain a lot of good minerals normal water does).
Other foods and variety is always good but apparently the mealworms are full of good stuff but crickets are fun to watch and variety is always good. I was told by a breeder that mealworms are healthier and if you go on canadianfeeders site they state they're full of good stuff. Feed the worms different foods so u get a healthy gecko!
From what I understand you should absolutely dust their food with pure calcium and D3+calcium a couple times a week but not to much...D3 helps digest the calcium so I've read.
I'm using carpet and I found that to be awesome...aside from the worms like to crawl under it...anoying...anyone else have a better idea?
A moist hide just have a hide with moist paper towel in it. I have a hide on the warm side a hide on the cool side and a moist hide in the middle.
I have a baby that's 6 weeks old and he said he might shed every couple weeks but every month sounds fine if he's a bit older...to me anyway...but I'm use to snakes.

The little dial type are notoriously inaccurate and the tape type register the temperature of the glass wall not the air in the tank.

You are confusing bottled water and distilled water. Distilled water is basicly collected steam and has no mineral content.

Thanks for all the Advice!
I really appreciate all the advice, everyone. And the care sheet is just excellent. I'll post pictures soon -- maybe once we name the girls.

Hi AJVW and welcome to the site. From your first post it is obvious that you will be a fab herp keeper - you seem to have covered all of your bases thoroughly which is something that a lot of people don't do - well done
The gang here are fab and the big Boss, Rich knows his stuff where Leopard Geckos are concerned - as do a lot of the other members so you have tonnes of us on hand to help you out if you need it
(oh, and I echo the pics request - we love pics)

OK, you asked for it. Here's a pic of the girls. We named 'em today: Gigi (for GG, Gecko Girl) and Freckles. Gigi is walking behind the fake stump, and Freckles is hiding in it. Freckles is a bit more shy, and slighly smaller (50 g. vs. 56 g. for Gigi)

Be careful with that little hole shes got her head through, if they get stuck they will probably stuggle and might seriously hurt themselves!
They look happy and healthy though, so thats just a thing to keep an eye on, if you see it starts to become a snug fit be weary!

Thanks for the advice. The log thing is something that came with the girls -- part of their setup from the previous owner. But I think their enclosure is kind of crowded, and I was considering taking it out. I need to make room for the moist hide -- they didn't have one before. The log is pretty, but they don't seem to use it much. Freckles was hiding in it because I had them out of their regular enclosure and in the plastic tub I'm using to let the kids interact with the geckos, and for use as a feeding area when I need to separate them to feed. The crickets made Gigi so excited that she was biting Freckles. So I think the log goes, and the remaining hides need to be rearranged. The girls need room to walk!
I really do appreciate the word of warning -- the thought hadn't occured to me.
