Mom & boys say "Hey"

Hello everyone! We are glad to be new members. My group includes Mom with 2 boys ages 13 & 6. The 6-year old is our reptile & amphibian lover. We are here to encourage him in pursuing this interest. We also need help & tips in caring for a skink we found yesterday. Thank you & god bless.

Welcome to the Herp Center Network! And congratulations on taking your son's hobby seriously and starting him out right on getting good information.
Check out the Caresheets for tips.
I don't have skinks, so can't help you there, but the skink owners should be along soon!

Not sure of type

I am not sure what kind of skink we caught. We have found that are 4 types that are native to Oklahoma - ground skink, five-lined skink, Great Plains skink, & broadhead skink. I think we have a ground skink. I'll try to get some pics so you guys can help. I'm thinking of letting him go, unless we find some more info. Riley is begging to keep him, but I don't want to improperly care for the lizard either. We have never kept any types of reptiles before (except for the turtles living in our pool).

Not nice

Venus - that is really not very nice. Riley is standing here saying "PLEASE, Mom, please. Can we have a gecko? If we can't get one today, what about tomorrow?" I would like to know more about them. Last pet we picked a ferret over the gecko for Colten, but Riley still wants the gecko.
