Hello
Hello, I'd just like to introduce myself and say that I am fairly new to reptiles of any kind although my dad did own a big iguana when I was younger. I'm mostly into fish tank at the moment, however, I do plan to take my two five and a half gallon tanks down and use them for some type of lizard. Right now I have one leopard gecko but I have been looking into getting a blue tongue skink. I can't seem to find someone who sells them though. Well this is just some basic information about me and I plan on hanging around for a while so I can improve my skills with different types of lizards.

Hello and welcome to HCN! If I understand your post.... there are no lizards that are going to be comfortable in a 5 gal tank, most especialy not a blue tongue skink!

Welcome to HC Network and I agree with Merlin. Even a leopard gecko would be too big for one of those. They need at least a 10 gallon tank bigger if possible. Good luck. Lyn

Ahh well I was going to take down one of them and put two or three anoles in it just because they are small. Might decided to keep the other one up though. Yeah I have a 20 gallon long for a Blue Tongue Skink if I ever get one, or find one.

I'm sorry but a 5 gal tank is too small even for a single anole, much less 2 or 3 You need at least a 10 gal.
And an adult Blue Tongue Skink needs a 40-60 gal tank. The very minimum size is a tank 18x 36 inches. A 20 long might work for a baby for a month or 2 but that is it.

My friend used to go to Florida and catch anoles all the time. He has over 20 in a 10 gallon tank and another 10 in a 5 1/2 gallon. He had them in these tanks for at least over a year and didn't have a problem. That plus my cousin used to keep four in a little 2 gallon plastic carrier, lol. Hmm, well I got an empty 55 gallon for a Blue Tongue Skink.

There are a lot of things that people do. Just because some one has done it and gotten away with it for a little while doesn't mean its the right thing to do. In tanks that small with that many anoles they cannot escape from aggressors and are under a great deal of stress.
Please take a look at our caresheet. http://www.herpcenter.com/showthread.php?t=6979
