Veggies

Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum. Let me give you a little background on my bearded dragon. I have had him approximately 10 months. I am guessing that he is around 11 months old. He resides in a 75 gallon reptile aquarium. His temperature on the basking spot is anywhere from 99 to 108 degrees. The cool end is between 75 and 80 degrees. Because he approaching adulthood I have been feeding him crickets every other day. His substrate is green reptile carpet. He is also supplied with a 10.0 UVB light.

Lately, he has quit eating his veggies altogether. I have been putting collard greens, turnip greens, bok choy, endive, mustard greens, and swiss chard. I usually put one at a time. Recently I changed his setup and I think that might have caused him some stress. I am beginning to wonder if he is getting tired of the color "green". Today I mixed in some collard greens, a slight amount of red cabbage, parsley, a radish, and some rasberries. This made it very colorful. If he eats this then I think the colors are more attractive for him. I know that I am supposed to feeding rasberries, and red cabbage sparingly. What does every one else feed their dragons? Do you make his food colroful? Or do you just throw in some green veggies? Thanks for reading this lenghty post.

Hi and welcome to Herpcenter. I feed mine much of what you feed yours. You can still feed crickets daily until he is at least a year, it wont hurt him at all. You are correct that changing his enviroment could have caused stress and the decline in some of his eating. Your temps sound good. But you might also do away witht he reptile carpet in his tank, sometimes their nails can get caught and cause damage.

I feed him his veggies every morning and his crickets in the evening. As far as changing out his reptile carpet I did. I changed it to washed and sifted playsand and ceramic tile. He hated it! He could never get his grip on the tile. I could have made his entire cage sand but I was in fear of impaction. I trim his nails when they get long. This will be okay right?

There's also non-adhesive shelf liner. I found one pretty neat in IKEA. One side is flat and the other is rugged. It's easy to clean, transparent and so far my Bearded Dragon is loving it.
