Hi everyone,

I was referred here by a member after I had nothing but bad experiences on the herp boards on MySpace (very little exchange of information, mostly just members insulting other members).

I consider myself an intermediate reptile keeper... I started keeping snakes a couple years ago.

My first was a three-foot California Kingsnake I caught a few miles from my house (I have a fishing liscense so it was done legally). He was pretty much tame after a few days and ate three mice the first time I fed him. He is now about six inches longer than when I first caught him.

Interestingly enough, I also have a captive-bred Striped California King that doesn't like to be held at all. I'm still working on getting her tame, even though I've had her for about five months.

Additionally, I have a Rosy Boa and a Kenyan Sand Boa (both excellent snakes). I am trying to get some Rubber Boas (a 1.1 pair), but have not had any luck. They are illegal to buy or sell but legal to collect, so collecting was my first choice. They are supposed to be abundant around here, but I haven't found one yet. Now I'm trying to see if I can buy a couple online and get them shipped here.

That's pretty much my story, I look forward to posting here.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention...

I worked at an aquarium and reptile specialty store for two years, so I am pretty good with the basics of reptile keeping, even though I only have a few snakes.

I have also been an avid freshwater fishkeeper my entire life, so if any of you have aquariums and need advice feel free to ask me.

Hello,

Welcome to the HC Network. MySpace isn't really designed for husbandry advice. The site itself was initially created to create a network of friends and to be a dating site. I think you will find that HC is not the typical forum. I hope you enjoy it here.
