hello lovers of scaled critters
I'm new to the site and wanted to say hi. I've got five young ones in my room right now(three are mine, i'm babysitting a ball python and a redtail).
I was hopeing someone could help me with identifing the differences of a common boa and a redtail boa. I have a reptile identifcation book and have noted many differences; but have been told that my redtail is a common boa. He (i think it is male) has a gray base color with hints of pink and i'd say brick red markings on his tail. I am babysitting another redtail who's base color is tan with a much more noticable pink tint. I also see that thier heads are shaped differently. My redtail with the greybase color has a bit narrower of a head and much larger eyes; while the tan redtail has small eyes and more of an arrow shaped head. I noticed a breeding pair at a local pet shop (kasch's critters) had the same differences in apperance; color and shape of eye's/head. ![]() |

Hello,
Welcome to the HC Network. I hope you enjoy the site. Check out the article section. We have an article about boa constrictor imperator vs. boa constrictor constrictor. That may help you out. ![]() |

Welcome to HC. Love the name
Also can't wait to see pics of your snakes. Maybe posting them will help some of the snakey people here to see if your red tail is indeed a red tail ![]() |
