Hello I'm new too.
I am very new to the site and have another question. I own a 2 year old iguana and have been reconstructing his cage to accomodate him better. It is a large cage about 4x4x6 foot cage and I would like to add some real plants. Does anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking about a Bamboo plant but I am not sure if it is safe for Iggy especially if he eats it. Does anyone know the answer? Any suggestion would be appreciated.

pothos is a great plant to hang is pots from the top of the enclosure and drape down. Plus, it's perfectly safe for the iggy to snack on.

Hi Karen and welcome to Herp Center. I have never fed, per se, bamboo to iggys but seeing as many other jungle critters eat bamboo, some of them have it as the main stay in their diet I wouldn't see it as being harmful if your iggy nibbled. I will however leave this open for correction by any of our more learned iggy keepers.

Thanks for the great welcome but now I have a new problem. I sent Fran a note but if he doesn't get the message I would appreciate any help. I just got home from dinner to find Iggy on the floor of his cage. I appears that he has once again fallen off of his basking shelf (approximately5 feet up). We are trying to expand his shelf and in fact just picked up new materials tonight. Anyways the problem is that he seems to be dragging his rear legs. I picked him to find him quite cold. He seems to be able to move the legs when they are touched but not to use them to walk. I don't see any bone protruding or any wounds. Do you think he may have broken something much worse like his back or could he just be stunded. I really worried but my vet is not open until morning and they are the only vets around that handle iguanas. He is resting now on the shelf hopefully sleeping but I am very worried. What do you think?
