    Christmas Eve Greetings ~

My name is Teri and I live in Phoenix, AZ. I have a female sulcata, an adult leucistic texas rat snake (sex undetermined), leopard gecko, and several cats.

My primary interest in this forum is the possibility of finding a home for the rat snake. It came to us several years ago as a 'rescue' (take this snake or I'll be turning it loose in the desert). It is a healthy snake, an agressive feeder who hasn't had much, if any - handling. I would prefer to keep him close to home, primarily because I'm not sure about shipping live animals.

Anyone interested may forward email to

Welcome to HCN! Good luck with finding a home for the snake (if I had room, I would take it myself). Is there a specific reason you are getting rid of it? I mean, other than the nasty feeding response, that is.

not so much a nasty feeding response ~ snakes are snakes and just do the natural thing. it would be better if it were a cuddle kind of snake, but it's not. The tank and occupant are an interesting focal point for the room, but I just think it would do better with a keeper a little more responsive. It is a beautiful adult snake (close to or over 6') and pearly white with one or 2 scales that are dark. We are just not snake people, altho we've had this snake probably for over 8 years...

Wow, I see. I know there are many people who aren't "snake people", God bless you for caring for him in spite of that fact. If I was closer-( I live in North Carolina), I would gladly take him. Of course, I would have to come up with a way to convince my wonderful long suffering wife that the snake would be a necessary addition to our household of 24 other snakes. Anyway, as I said God bless you and good luck finding a loving home for that guy.
