Introduction Geckogirl16

Hello,I'm gEcKoGiRl16 or Alice.
I love Geckos; all geckos are sweet ! I haven't got a gecko yet but I will do, at the moment I'm trying to find the right species of gecko for me, like a gecko that likes to be handled. If you know of any, please let me know?

re: Introduction Geckogirl16

Greetings Alice-

Welcome to Herp Center. We are glad to have you here.

I'm partial to the New Caledonian Crested Gecko. I think they have a relatively easy husbandry, tolerate handling well and are just plain cute!

Good luck in your search. Enjoy the forums.

Welcome to HC. Try a Leopard Gecko. They are a very good starter gecko and are ok to handle. Have a copy of our care sheet.

Welcome to Herp Center Alice!

I'll second both Leopard Geckos and Crested Geckos. They are both great pets and also good for beginners.

Re: Introduction Geckogirl16

Welcome fellow gecko enthusiast I second everyone else's opinion in that either a leopard gecko or a crested gecko would be an excellent start. Crested Geckos may have the edge to start with because if you get the right diet mix, they don't need to eat bugs (mine girls still love their crickets though) and if your room is warm enough, they don't require a heat lamp. The only downside I can see is that they are more expensive to purchase. But both Leopard Geckos and Crested Geckos are easily handled and adorable
But be sure to do your homework and research each species before you get it. There are caresheets here and good books out there too.

Leopard Geckos are quite possibly the cutest geckos out there, but the Crested Geckos are not far behind (Leopard Geckos are on my list for sure) - you should check out some of the colors they make those in!
