Greetings from Far... Far Away
Hi everyone
Greetings from across the waters  I've wanted a herp for so long, years in fact, and have done a lot of research in that time. What I really want is a green iguana, but sadly it wouldn't be a responsible choice for me.  I live in Ireland, so an outdoor enclosure is out of the question and indoor space would be a real problem. I also have a son who's 8, so the possibility of aggression from the iguana would worry me. So, anyway, it looks like a chinese water dragon will be my lizard of choice. I'm sure I will find lots of helpful advice on the HC Network. I'm looking forward to posting with all of you. ~Precious |

Welcome to the world of herps, and more importantly, welcome to HC! I am sure you will find answers to any of your questions. Don't be shy to ask anything, no matter how silly you might think it is. Learning is power!
Glad you decided against an iguana, thats a wise choice!  Not many do the same. |

The decision was a hard one, believe me..if only the water dragon was a herbivore(thats the only thing holding me back..the thought of pinkie mice and worms..eek) I notice you're from Durban..Hoe gaan dit? I'm from Cape Town originally, born and raised and moved here 10 years ago. I sure do miss the smell of Africa and the sunshine of course, although I believe it to be quite cold and wet at the moment? Anyway, lovely to meet a fellow SAer. ~Precious |

I am an original capetonian. I lived in Durban for most my life though. It is still sunny here. In capetown its probably raining as usual with winter knocking at our doors. It's amazing how you finally decided to get into the world of reptiles once you leave the place that has the nicest ones! haha

Water Dragons are awesome...you get used to the crickets and worms real fast. lol They used to bother me as well.
