Re: Hello Everyone!

Welcome to Herp Center. I've had two Veileds in my herp hobbying past. If care is taken to set them up properly then are not too difficult to keep. One of the mistakes many make is underestimating how much moisture they require. Since they obsorb a great deal through their skin, they must be misted quite regularly in a dry environment. An automatic fine spray mister is a must for them.
It is also a good idea to place them in the shower on a branch and soak them regularly.

Re: Hello Everyone!

Welcome to the neighborhood!

White's Tree Frogs are a great starter amphibian. And they sound like the would be perfect for you. They aren't really fast moving frogs, they are able to be handled (and even seem to enjoy being held), and their care is pretty easy once you get the setup done. You can do a nice simple set up or go all out and make something elaborate.

Re: Hello Everyone!

Welcome to HC

Yeah, of the available chameleon species, veiled chameleons are one of the "easier ones", but that doesn't actually mean they're easy. Chameleons are definitely not for the novice herper, and I'd get comfortable keeping other species before you make that leap. They're also expensive.

But that said, frogs are much easier compared to chams (regardless of species, if you ask me). But there are certain frogs that are better than others. White's tree frogs are slow, cute, big, and interesting.

Re: Hello Everyone!

Thanks so much for all the info guys! I think I've decided to start out with frogs and maybe go for some chameleons when I have an extra room to devote to their climate needs. Thanks again!

I thinkthat would be a good desision. A moutain horned dragon is pretty dificult but not as bad as a chameleon, you may look into that?
