New Snake Owner from Arizona

Hello,

I bought my first snake- Albino Calf. King- last September. My second snake about 2 months ago- Black Mexican Kingsnake.

Both are growing and eating well.

I used comerical bark for the Albino. He became dyhedrated, stopped eating and was not pooping. I removed the bark, cleaned the cage well and soaked him in warm water. It took about 10 days however he pulled thru and has eaten for 3 days now and had a shed.

That was my big adventure with the Albino.

My black Mexican is now shedding again. This is his second shed since I have had him, so far no problems with his shed. Would it be ok to soak him to help him shed?

Brand new owner, great to find this site.

Welcome to Herp Center...usually if the humidity is right, they shed fine on their own...my kingsnakes generally dont soak before they shed and never have problems...good luck and let us know if you have any other questions...

Providinf a moist hide is a good idea to help sheds and just the snakes well being. My cali desert phase king loves his and spends most of his time in it. Just take a thing of tuperware and fill it with reptile moss, mist with warm water and put near heat source and it will stay wet and humid for 1-2 weeks with no more misting
