Re: New to the Snake Thing
welcome to HC! glad you joined. i also have a rosy boa and I enjoy him.
they're from a more dry area and don't like high humidity. i keep a water dish in the enclosure for three days then take it out. any spills in the enclosure will result in higher humidity. they do not require access to water 24/7. i usually give the water the same time as I feed him so he can drink then and its usually on the weekend. i have noticed over the 3+ years i've had him that if I keep a water dish in his enclosure 7 days a week he hides and did not like to come out. after awhile I took it out, only putting it in on the weekends and he started coming out. he's pretty much full grown and he is very docile. i would be wary about keeping him on sand though. definitely do not handle him after feeding for at least 2-3 days. they need to digest properly. you don't want to risk a regurge, it takes its toll on the snake and it may not eat the next time because of stress. also, be aware that they can go off of feed for the winter. mine has been off of food since august and has yet to start up again. he's done this every year i've had him.

Re: New to the Snake Thing
Hi MyJake,
Welcome to Herp Center! Lovely boa! Please head the instructions and DO NOT handle for a few days after feeding. They need to fully digest in order not to regurgitate. Please enjoy!
