Newbie Here but Not New to Igs ;)
Hi all, I just found this site and it sure looks helpful and interesting. I'm sure I can learn a lot and maybe help someone else as well, I hope.
I have owned 3 iguanas. My first gal was Bliz, she lived 17 years and we finally had to face the fact that it was her time to go and we took her to the vet to have it taken care of so she did not suffer any longer. We have her ashes on our dresser, she was a wonderful pet. At this time we have an 8 year old male, quite large I guess and he is mostly orange. he's beautiful and is absolutely a sweetheart. We've only had him for a little more than a year. When we bought him he was in a dank, small cage in the back of the pet shop with another ig. He's a free roam, all our igs are/were. He is so easy-going I was amazed. He takes to change just fine, nothing seems to upset him at all, even toenail clipping time! The youngest is a year and a half and we got her when she was just an itty bitty baby. Our vet who specializes in herp care said he has never seen a more tame ig of her age. She's quite a good little gal, also free roam but only allowed in our bedroom and the bathroom. She is toilet trained for the most part though recently we had to change her shelving as she outgrew her other one and she is a bit stressed over it and has started going on the carpet...I think she is showing me she is annoyed. Little stinker. Igs are THE best! ![]() Debbie |

Not sure I know how to do this but I 'think' I have pics attached.
Bliz, the one who lived to be 17 is the one on the boat steering wheel, she LOVED the boat and the water. Alex is the baby, she's the one on the potty. Yoshi is the one on the leash on the beach. He's much more orange this time of year, he's a handsome dude(and he knows it). ![]() |

OMG she is ON the toilet! When you said potty trained I was picturing a tub of water in a corner, not the actual potty!

Is that one of those rigs for training a cat to the toilet?

Re: Newbie Here but Not New to Igs ;)
Thanks for the welcome.
About the potty, it is just some coated wire shelving that my husband screwed to the bottom of a toilet seat(engineering genius lol) and then removed the lid from our toilet seat and put that one on top of the seat we(the big people) use in place of the lid. So, the little gal has her seat and we have ours. Our 8 year old is a tub pooper and so was our older ig and we just wanted to see if it was possible to train her to go on the potty and she picked it up almost immediately. Debbie |
