Hello
Hello everyone. I just bought my first pet turtles about a month ago. 2 hatchling alligator snapping turtles. They are AAA hybrids from Five Star Turtle Farm ( Five Star Turtle Farm ). They are active and healthy. My concern is that they eat and eat and eat. It seems they eat their weight in food eavry day. Is this normal, or should I try to regulate their intake. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Bob, welcome to HC. I'm an avid turtle person but do not have much experience with Alligator snappers. I know they are threatened if not endangered in the US and they will get quite large. When they are hatchlings and juveniles I am sure they will eat a bit but I really don't think a 30 lb adult would eat that much in a day. I'll check my library and see if I can get some more info for you.

I also checked out that website, it seems to me that they are selling common snappers, not Alligator snappers. Also I was incorrect. The alligator snapper is not listed as endangered or threatened by the US Fish & Wildlife.
