What kind of Plated do I have?

Hi, I am new to this so bear with me. My son had to move to Oklahoma and couldn't take his lizard. It was given to him about 15 years ago and never bothered to find out what kind it is and what to feed him. I have seen pictures of tanks with people who owns lizards, but the tank George is in is a 20 gal. and nothing but his log, walnut shell, and water dish. He eats around 5-6 crickets every other day. He sleeps most of the time. Can anyone help me? His name is George and he is about 20 years old.

Hello,

Welcome to the HC Network. I can't answer your question myself, but I am sure someone may be able to help.

From your picture though, I can tell that he would benefit from a larger enclosure.

Welcome to HC Network....not sure of the type of plated lizard you have, but looks pretty good for a 20 yr old....I agree with getting him a bigger habitat....good luck!

welcome to HC! i would get him a bigger enclosure with more than one place to hide and a warm and cool side if he doesn't have that already. possibly get rid of that substrate to and change it to something else like repti carpet, newspaper or something like that. good luck with him!

Hello George06,

Welcome to Herp Center!! I cannot help you identify your lizard, but if you go to Google Images you might be able to ID it! Good luck!
