Re: Need help with a red ear slider

What is your setup like? Do you have a uvb bulb and basking spot, etc.

I know some pet stores sell some eye wash, that will SOMETIMES work, and only if it is bacterial. A little more info on the setup would help

When in doubt find a reputable vet, it could be an infection, or a vitamin A deficiency or an upper respiratory issue. The only way to know for sure is to visit a vet.

Re: Need help with a red ear slider

I actually would not use the eye drops unless you've seen a vet and he or she says it's okay. Sometimes those things can actually aggravate the problem.

Definitely get him to a certified reptile vet. It's a good idea to take all reptiles to a vet once a year for check-ups anyway. You can catch disease a lot earlier that way, and get updates on how they are, how they should be and how their care should be.

Re: Need help with a red ear slider

Welcome to HC The others said pretty much all there is to say so far. Swollen eyes in turtles is almost always brought on by poor care. We can't help you much more than that until we know what your turtle's diet, habitat, etc are like. As mentioned, a vet that deals with turtles is a great idea, but (s)he too will need to know the same information we do.
