Hi!!
Hi. I am new to all of this!! My son found a horned toad. We live in Oklahoma. He is determined to keep it. Soo..... my husband and I are trying to find out some info on what to feed it and how to take care of it. We have always called them horney toads but I think that it is a horned toad. We fixed up an aquarium with rocks and sand and even an old turtle shell. We aren't sure if it needs water or how to go about feeding it?!@ Please Help!!

Re: Hi!!
Welcome to HC. Horned lizards are very cool (they are lizards not toads) They eat ants in the wild but I would think they would also eat crickets and other insects. A shallow water dish should also be provided. Post pics if you can I'd love to see him.

Re: Hi!!
Thanks for the web page. I read a little about this little guy and it said that they eat up to 200 ants daily. We may have a hard time feeding it. May have to talk my son into letting it go.

Re: Hi!!
I don't know enough about them to say if they will adapt to crickets. letting him go might be the best option.

Re: Hi!!
i ran into a couple at the pet store the other day. The mom was buying her son a new critter. He had found a garter snake in the yard and decided to keep it. She thought it would do better in the wild so she made a deal with him. let the snake free and I'll get you something from the pet store.

Re: Hi!!
The horned Lizard would be a huge challenge and they don;t usually adapt to captivity, look into getting a leopard gecko or a bearded dragon, they make great beginner pets!

Re: Hi!!
Welcome to HC and I agree, letting go would be the best for the animal.
