completely new and looking for answers!
Hi, I am new to this group and hope that I do not sound too clueless! I have two boys- ages 9 and 7 that love all types of reptiles. We decided to start with two leopard geckos about 2 years ago. We purchased them at our local Petsmart and were told that they were both females. The first one had very subtle markings and we named her James. The second looked like a tiger so we named her Tiger. Unfortunately Tiger developed some shedding problems and died. We replaced her with a second gecko that we called Tiger 2. Tiger 2 was quite a bit smaller than James so we placed her in a separate tank and offered a variety of food- mealworms, waxworms and crickets. Tiger 2 did not eat and unfortunately also died. So now we are on to Tiger 3. We purchased Tiger 3 at Petsmart and she was a large size to begin with- about the same size as James- who has continued to thrive. We have had Tiger 3 and James together for about a month. 2 days ago we found what looked like an egg in our cage. Yesterday we found another egg, but both now look dehydrated and have shriveled up. I have not been able to find out any information from my book about leopard gecko's, and Petsmart does not know anything either. Some of my friends that have reptiles have told me that both of these are unfertilized eggs and have probably come from Tiger3. My boys and I are very curious about this and welcome any information from those that are more experienced! Thank you!!

Re: completely new and looking for answers!
Hello,
Welcome to the HC Network! I myself keep leopard geckos, and am currently owned by 13 of them. lol
What you found were likely eggs, but there is no certainty that they were unfertilised eggs.
They were collapsed and dented because they require humidty to maintain their shape. If they were laid in the open, and the ambient air is dry, they would have quickly begun drying out.
I suggest you read the caresheet that was linked above. Its pretty good. (I am bias, I wrote it. lol)
It covers everything from their care, to breeding, to incubating eggs. It also explains things like moist hides, and why you should never use calcium sand.
I hope you find the site useful. Feel free to post any questions or concerns you may have.

Re: completely new and looking for answers!
Hi and welcome! I have a 6-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy (humans), and we, too, started out with 2 leopard geckos! Beware -- reptiles can be addicting, as I have found out! We have more now, and I often wonder WHAT I was thinking, lol! But we love them!
Definitely review that caresheet. One thing this whole reptile experience has taught me is how often pet store employees, kind as many of them are as human beings, know next to nothing about reptile care. They more often steer people wrong than right, it seems. (I know there are some wonderful, knowledgeable pet store employees out there -- I'm not talking about them, just about the others...)
Our leopard geckos and other reptiles (and amphibians) are healthy and thriving, and I thank my lucky stars that a friend referred me to this website, where I get great advice from friendly people!!
P.S. It looks like one of your boys is named Henry! My son is Henry also!
