Hello hello
Hiya, I'm new to the forum today and just thought I'd say hello. I recently got a pet Chinese Water Dragon. His name's Frank and he's way cool. He's my first lizard creature, but my fiancee Jessica has had experience. She has had pet Iguanas in the past and currently has a Ball Python named Vincent (or Vinny).
Some details on Frank...
Size - 1 1/2 feet
Health - pretty good as far as I can tell. He isn't bony or anything.
Diet - crickets and mealworms. I'm going to try other insects soon though, just for variety.
Temper - He's pretty calm, likes to be on my hand, shoulder and head. He's a jumper though! Gotta keep a watchful eye on him.
Living Conditions - 10 gallon tank, with a uvb lamp on top (on for 12 hours a day), small plastic dish to bask in, small plant, and a hiding place.
Anybody have any questions or suggestions with him?

Re: Hello hello
Hello,
Welcome to the HC Network! I hope you find the site useful.
Your dragon requires a larger enclosures. In fact, it requires a much larger enclosure than what you are currently providing. If your dragon is 18 inches long, it requires a minimum enclosure at least 36 inches long. (Twice the length of the WD.)
It would be pointless to keep upgrading as the dragon grows, so you should consider building or purchasing an enclosure it can live in its entire life.
According to Tricia Power, a leader among the WD community, you should provide an enclosure that is a min. of 6 ft long (side to side), 2-3 feet deep and 4-6 feet high to do it right. Most people won't have this much space, so you will need to at least create the largest enclosure that you can fit in the space you have available.
The 10 galloon is completely insufficient for this species.

Re: Hello hello
Welcome to HerpCenter!
You will find a lot of waterdragon keepers here!
And I agree. The dragon needs a much larger enclosure.
There is no way you can create the needed temperature gradient in something that small.
What type of UVB bulb is it? Some are much better than others!
