hello, newbie here with intro and ?'s
Hello, my name is Theresa and I live in Riverhead. I have rescued two iggies that are housed in cages as of now that "fit" them. I finally talked my husband into helping me build a bigger cage.
He is willing to build me a cage that is 78" wide 2 1/2 ' deep and 4 ' high. will this be enough for the both of them. Considering that it will be divided straight down the middle as they are both males and are bobbing alot at each other. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Any suggestions on material is another suggestion taken under advisement.
Hey, why not throw in food hints also. I finally got the big guy on veggies and not completely on the pellet food. He wolfs down the veggies like there is no tomorrow. Well, I will sit back and wait for the replys to roll in. Bye for now.

Welcome, Theresa! We're so glad you found us.
Congrats on rescuing these two boys! Are you planning on keeping both? Keeping two males, especially so close in proximity will have its challenges.
I'm glad to hear that you're working on switching from pellets to veggies. What types of veggies are you feeding?
How old are these igs? Are they both eating? Sometimes when housed together, a dominant animal will keep others from eating. It's best to get these two separated as soon as you can.
Regarding the proposed enclosure... Unfortunately, what you're describing is not large enough for one full-grown ig, let alone two. Our iguana caresheet which goes into detail regarding housing needs, diet, and other care requirements, is in the process of being reconfigured. I'll post it as soon as it's available.
I've only scratched the surface here, so please feel free to ask questions.

Switching from pellets to veggies might be a bit of a challenge. We to adopted an adult iggy, he was fed spring mix lettuce, baby food and pellets. It took about 6-8 months to totally switch him over to a vegetable diet.

Welcome to the forum! As Steph told you that cage is not big enough for one adult male let alone divided for two. You also may find yourself with such a hormone induced aggression that you can't even house them in the same room! I know keepers that had to seperate two males into seperate ends of the house and then they still had to be careful not to have one's scent on them when they had to deal with the other. You are dealing with a potentially dangerous situation.
As for food check out our iguana care area for ideas. The basics are no animal protein. The diet should be mainly dark leafy greens. Mustard greens collard greens and Turnip greens are your staples with a little orange skinned squash, greenbeans, sweet potatoes and a bit of fruit.
What are you currently trying to feed them?
