(Before you start...sorry...I just couldn't stop typing...lol...and I have things to do on the pc today!)
Got curious so I thought I'd drop by. I recognize some familiar "faces" here.
My name is Veronica. I do small iguana rescue from my home...I do not run an actual iguana rescue org. as much as I would like to. I am an officer of our local humane society and I am the individual in charge of the exotics we get in (igs, hedgehogs, ferrets, birds, etc.). I am also the webmaster and photographer for them all.
I have been doing iguana education for several years online and have branched somewhat into the community. I have been asked to several presentations...mainly to children, which is my target group anyway. What better group to impress upon the un-fun aspects of ig care...

.
I do own...or rather am owned by...one 6 yr. old male iguana named Zair (have seen another one with this name...

Pern rocks!). He is what got me interested in iguana care shariing. I nearly killed him with care I thought was right. He had gotten severe Metabolic Bone Disease, swollen limbs & jaw, broken toes...seizures...nearly the whole shmoo. He has lasting effects. Growth plates were severely compromised so he is somewhat stunted at 15" snout to vent length & 45" snout to tail length (partial tail amp from dry gangrene took 4"). I've learned a lot since then and would like to pass that on.
At present we have approx. 25 animals in our care. Most are permanent residents. 5 are fosters...3 of the 8 dogs and 2 of the 3 cats.
At present we have:
1 ig (petstore)
6 ferrets (shelter in Cincinnati, OH)
1 African grey (surrender)
1 ball python (surrender)
8 dogs (rescues mostly, and 3 fosters)
3 cats (gift for daughter + 2 fosters)
1 mouse (rescue from petstore floor)
1 hamster (gift to daughter from her boyfriend)
1 tarantula (gift from sister)
Nice to be here and I will be thrilled to post here as time allows...
