Nicole is right....minimum size for your ig cage should be 6x6x3 ft wide. Newspaper or linoleum are the best for flooring. He could eat the bark and become impacted...so it is not suggested. I would suggest plexi glass for your cage as humidity would be a problem with wire. What do you plan to feed your new little guy?? Check out our food chart...its wonderful... good luck and let us know if you have any other questions.

Oh I did not even catch the bark thing. That stuff is very expensive when you can go down to Home Depot and get the end of the roll linoleum for next to nothing or when they have the boxes of tile for 5.00. I have used both and you can sanitize to keep them clean and when you feel that no amount of bleach will sanitize it, you simply throw it away and put new ones in. I dont think your iggy will be too concerned over the pattern as I got 7 boxes of tile with hideuos pink floral pattern on it So I figured I would put it in with the big boys and give them a complex Boy I am twisted
The bark is an absolute no no, you probably dont want to risk impaction, it doesnt happen all the time but it only takes that one time before you end up with a huge vet bill, or worse a broken heart . Good luck with your Iguana and post some pics, we love pics

Definitely NO bark. It simply poses too great a health risk. As for the wire part of your enclosure, there are some potential dangers there too... NEVER use chicken wire. You'll need a heavy gauge welded wire; do not use woven wire as your ig's toes can get pinched between the weave. You will have to be sure that the welded wire doesn't have any burs or sharp edges too (see photos below). You can successfully use wire AND plexiglass by affixing velcro or another means of fastening the plexi to the outside frame, covering the wire when you want/need less airflow.

Welded Wire (use with care)

Woven Wire (do NOT use)

Welcome to Herp Center, by the way!
