It's a girl!!
My iguana (Dr. J) surprise me last night by laying two eggs. I have had her for 4 years and she has always been alone in the cage. My local pet store and some internet sites suggested I give her a nest. I put a kitty litter box in her cage with some damp play sand in it.
If there are any more suggestions out there< I would greatly appreciate it.

Congrats ,now watch your girl very carefully for any unusual behavior, you may want to get x rays to make sure she has no more eggs.
Also go to the breeding section of this site for lots of info.
Hope all is well .... paul

Hello,
I would definately keep an eye on her. A gravid female will deposit a lot more than just 2 eggs. If you don't see any more eggs deposited within the next 3-5 days, you need to get her to the vet to make certain she isn't egg bound.

I agree with the above....keep an eye on her...she should lay 20 + eggs even with her first clutch. Welcome to HC Network by the way....hope you like it here.

Absolutely! This is a very dangerous time in the life of a female iguana. With only 2 eggs she isn't even close to being through. Be very cautious handling her so that you don't rupture any remaining eggs and if a lot more eggs are not laid soon get her to a vet.
