hello everyone this is my first post i was hoping someone can answer a question I have. i have been trying to find out if you can cure Metabolic Bone Disease in a ig or is it something I have to worry about showing up again. i have had my ig for 15 months now .i rescued her from someone who stop feeding her and did'nt have the right food, lights, and a very small tank. i got everything she needed and spent alot of time at the vets with her she is eating all the right greens has all the right lights she even went though her first breeding season she layed 32 eggs .the lady at the local pet store says I have to have everything right for her if she layed eggs. but I am worried about her getting Metabolic Bone Disease again

Hi and Welcome to HC Network! If your ig was relatively young, then Metabolic Bone Disease is more or less curable. IF you continue to give her the proper lighting, foods and exercise in a properly sized cage, then the Metabolic Bone Disease should not come back. Severe Metabolic Bone Disease causes skeletal problems, which is not fixable, and if your ig appears normal, is of normal size say 4 ish feet long if an adult, she should be fine. What you do need to watch for is egg binding which did not happen this time around but could happen in the future...so just in case...I thought I would tell you.
Post some pictures of your girl when you get a chance....enjoy yourself here!!!!

Welcome to Herp Center.
Could you please define more clearly what
Quote:

everything she needed and spent alot of time at the vets with her she is eating all the right greens has all the right lights

means exactly. We often hear new members tell us this and later discover that our definition of "right" is very different from what they've been told.
It really sounds like you want to give your girl a great life... kudos! That's what we're here to help you do.
