Intro to the Lesser Dragon

Alas, I have no reptiles, so I will not be very active on this forum until (cross fingers here) I do.

I found the Herp Center through Herp Habitats, which I found via Tricia's Water Dragon Page and I have been enthusiastically reading new and old threads for the past week or two.
The water dragon is my dream reptile at the moment, I would like to build a full sized (L 6' x W 2'6" x H 5-6' not including roof and base) enclosure to that end, maybe as soon as next year... I have zero experience building things, though I would like to learn a bit of carpentry. My mother has (sort of) agreed to help, though discussion of moving the end product into the house is staying entirely theoretical. She is fine with reptiles, but she really really really does not want a 6 foot tank in the house.

And with this indefinite delay in the Chinese Water Dragon (or AWD maybe... I like green, but there is something rather friendly looking about the Aussies) dream, I've been looking at my options for the now.
I have always been fond of constrictors, and had a chance to hold an African House Snake in a pet store recently, which endeared me to it by wrapping about my hand in that charmingly constrictor-like fashion.
There doesn't seem to be a huge amount of information available about them, but from what I have read they stay relatively small and have undemanding husbandry requirements (21-32C, moderate humidity, no UV {nocturnal}, ready feeders). They seem a good choice for me.

That said, I can't find more than one website with a detailed care sheet (ie including basics like temps), nor do there seem to be any books specific to the species.
And last (but not least) I'm not entirely sure how to go about finding a breeder in my area (Ontario, Canada, near Toronto). Or should I go petshop?

I do believe I've read all those links (I just read them again for good measure).... hmm, they do include temps, don't they?
I suppose I like to find at least one book-like resource dedicated to the animal (like Tricia's water dragon page, or http://www.boa-constrictors.com/ ) before I feel content that I've done my research.
