Intro
Hi Everyone!
I live in the Fort Myers, Florida area. I grew up with reptiles, my dad was really into raising and breeding reptiles and monkeys. The monkeys became a little harder to handle, so he started concentrating on just reptiles alone. Although, we did have the marmosets for a while, they were my favorite. Myself and my sisters would help our dad out with the reptiles, delivering to the airport for transport or feeding them. We left the cleaning of their cages to my dad! It was really exciting when there was a snake having babies. I really learned alot about reptiles and have now passed that on to my children so that they are not afraid of reptiles, like most children are taught to be, and maybe they will possibly become interested in following in my dad's footsteps (no pressure). My dad passed away in 1997. What I would really like to do is start breeding reptiles myself and getting my kids involved in that when they are older. I am very interested in panther chameleons and the different morphs that can come from pythons and corn snakes. Our first snake was a corn snake/red rat snake so they hold a special place in my heart. If anyone has any advice on starting a reptile business, I would greatly appreciate the input. If you know of any books that would be helpful or websites, that would be great too. Thanks so much, and I look forward to meeting everyone! Christine ![]() |

Hello,
Welcome to the HC Network! Most people that breed reptiles in a business sense start out doing so as a hobby/secondary job. It's easier to have full time employment and open an online site where you sell the offspring for that years breeding projects. |

Like previously stated. You'd really have to work your way up. I know of several breeders who are just happy to get their bills paid. Welcome to HC.
