Introducing LadySnake

Okay Merlin, I'm here. I just hope you know what you're doing! Too many would argue this point with you!
Any way, I'm LadySnake. I currently own over 100 snakes, of which 49 are under the age of 5 months. The biggest proportion of the snakes are boids. Then we get to the lizards, which number 36, mostly bearded dragons of which 17 will be 3 weeks old tomorrow.
Most of the adult animals and some of the juvenile animals are used in Scool Snakes. This is an interactive, hands-on educational experience. The more kids learn about reptiles, the better they can help them as adults. As soon as I can I will post some of the many pictures I have.
I do an enormous amount of research on all aspects of reptiles to make sure my babies have what they need to be happy and healthy, not to mention trying to stay 1 step ahead of the kids in the classrooms. Most of the information I pass along is from personal experience, with mega bits of trial and error thrown in to drive me crazy. I will help all I can, where I can, and hope for the best.

Welcome to the forum! It's great to have you here, and any friend of Merlin's is a friend of ours!

Your collection sounds mad! It's crazy having a zoo around eh! We are almost at the stage that you are, except the snakes and lizards will probably reach into the few-hundreds next year when many of them will be bred!

Your work sounds amazing, I would love to do the same myself some day, but first I need the go-ahead from the authorities!! Any work to educate the uneducated about something so important, that right now is surrounded by so many myths, is wonderful! Well done, keep up the great work, and... we need pics!!!!!

Whoa.... do you think.... maybe someday.... I could..... touch your doorknob?

That is quite a collection. Where do you find room for all of them?

welcome ladysnake,

wow! it certainly sounds like you are quite busy. just cleaning and feeding must be a full time job...how do you have any time for anything else?!?!?

kudos to you, also, for being so involded in that educational program. if it's inportant for anyone to learn about herps, it is the children. i bet most, if not all of us on here learned about them when we were fresh out of diapers, or before. my big brother, and my mom, taught me how to catch snakes, frogs and salamanders...my first pet lizards I got when I was 7 or 8...

...and likewise, when I got a little cousin, i was able to teach her not to be afraid of those things, and how to handle them. when she was 8 I introduced her to my friends ball python and she didn't hesitate to take him in her hands.

so I think what you are doing is great.

thanks for joining,

lola

Welcome Ladysnake! Great to have another herper with your kind of experience. Wow! 100 snakes!? That is an astonishingly high number! Nice work.
