Mandatory Inroduction...
Hey all,
My name is Typhanie. I'm a long time herp caregiver. (I know better than to say owner. I am definitely the owned as far as my reps are concerned.)
At the moment I only have two reptiles, both are adoptees from families that no longer wanted them: 1.0 Uromastix Benti, "Maize" and 1.0 Iguana iguana. (As yet unnamed. They had no name for him, and I've only had him for five days so far. I'm tentatively leaning toward "Tengemano" which is a Swahili word meaning "peace - bringing peace.")
The iguana is about 4.5' in length, I'm unsure of the weight. The size of a cat or a small dog. I've been told he's four or five years old. The family maintains that they never handled him or interacted more than feeding and cleaning the cage out, but he's terribly mild-tempered and shockingly well adjusted. Seemingly quite healthy as well, alert and active.
As an adoptee he's been a dream. He's shown only the most minimal anxiety at finding himself in a new home - especially including the hour and a half drive to get here. The first day after getting his cage all settled, I mostly left him to himself, and he seemed a little agitated. By the second day he was eating his greens out of my hand, and only eyeing me with a little distrust. By the third day he would come right over and patiently allow me to stroke him very carefully for several minutes at a time.
As someone who's used to stubborn reptiles that are angry at being moved around by someone new, this is a little unnerving, but refreshing.
Anyway, that's my ig. I've had one before, so I'm used to their care, but I do have a couple of questions already about bizarre behavior that this iguana is exhibiting that my other one never did. So you'll see me posting them in a (hopefully) appropriate forum pretty soon.

Ah. I See. So I better post pictures or I'm out of the club.
That probably won't be a problem.
